Why Is the WiFi Not Working?

The kids are saying the WiFi is slow. Your phone keeps buffering. Nothing's loading properly.

Here's what to try. No tech speak. Just things that actually work.

1. Turn It Off and On Again

I know you've heard this before. But it genuinely fixes most things.

Find the box with the flashing lights (that's your router). Unplug it from the wall.

Wait 30 seconds. Count it out. Then plug it back in.

Give it a few minutes. The lights will flash and then settle. That's it working again.

2. Get Closer to the Box

WiFi doesn't go through walls very well.

If you're upstairs and the router is downstairs, that's why it's slow.

Try standing next to the router. If the WiFi suddenly works better, you've found the problem.

3. Too Many Things Connected

Every phone, tablet, laptop, smart TV, and video game console is sharing the same WiFi.

If everyone's watching videos at the same time, it slows down.

Try turning off WiFi on things you're not using right now. See if that helps.

Still Not Working?

Your internet provider might tell you to "switch to 5GHz" or "log into your admin console".

If you're thinking "I have no idea what that means" — that's exactly where I come in.

I can help you figure out what's going on, explain what your internet provider is asking for, and walk you through the bits that don't make sense.
